It’s a terrifying trailer that introduces The Evil Within 2, the next chapter in the Shinji Mikami rooted survival horror that was sort of great the first time, but didn’t quite go all the way.
As Sebastian Castellanos you get a chance to save your daughter, but saving your daughter isn’t the typical thing of pushing her out the way of a moving car or buying her a puppy because she’s sad. It’s more like not dying as a variety of nope-monsters try to tear you apart while you hide in the bushes with whatever weapon is at your disposal.
The trailer doesn’t bring much to the table in terms of gameplay, but it makes up for it in sheer eerie horror. If it remains as creepy when it launches on October 13, remains to be seen.
