You might as well start accepting the fact that this console generation is going to be a bit weird. Speaking with Financial Times, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Andre House spilled a few of the beans from the can that was the rumored Neo. The least surprising thing might be the fact that it won’t be $350.
The Neo will live alongside the base PS4 and offer a more high-end experience for people who desire this (so everyone, then). He expects a large majority of games to support the Neo’s beefier innards for those glorious 4K graphics your new TV has been clamoring. The work necessary to make games on work on both is minimal according to House, but I’m gonna go ahead and assume devs might have a different opinion about it.
As for an E3 reveal there is no such plans as they wish to show the new system with a bigger catalogue of stuff to showcase. You could always think up a scenario where Sony suddenly decided to drop the E3 reveal to further upgrade the hardware to coincide with the rumored specs of Microsoft’s Scorpio.
We’ll know all this and more later this year as details – and leaks, I’m sure – will be revealed.
