Norway to spend $1200000 on game export project

It might not sound like much, but then again Norway isn’t the biggest origin of games either. Well, at least not visibly, something that the government through the department of culture is hoping to change next year. Through an agreement with the Norwegian institute of film and Innovation Norway, a total of NOK 10 000 000 ($1200000 USD) is set aside to increase knowledge with Norwegian developers and to support their games abroad. The department of culture and Innovation Norway will each provide NOK 5 000 000 to the project which is set to start next year, the goal being increased revenue and export. The project is named Spill ut i verden (Games to the world).

Globalization and digitization has made it easier to access new markets, customers and suppliers. Regardless, export remains low for the cultural and creative businesses. Spill ut i verden (Games to the world) has great potential. Anita Krohn Traaseth, Innovation Norway
