PlayStation Now announced – game streaming on almost any device

Andrew House took the stage at today’s Sony CES keynote to announce PlayStation Now. The cloud streaming service will be powered by Gaikai and will allow streaming of titles from all generations and platforms to pretty much any device you have, including tablets, phones, TV’s and other PlayStation platforms like the PS4, PS3 and Vita. Apparently a live demonstration is available at CES where you can try out The Last of Us through the service.

At the end of this month Sony will launch a closed beta in the United States, and aims at launching the service at the end of the summer. No word yet regarding a similar service in Europe.

Do you have high hopes for such a service, or do you think input lag and other potential issues will keep it from being a success? Regardless of the outcome, it is a brilliant idea.
