Double Dragon first came out on the arcade back in 1987. That is roughly 25 years ago for all you math fans out there. The classic beat ’em up was developed by Technos Japan and distributed in North America and Europe by Taito Corporation. The game (considered a spiritual successor) is actually based on a previous game by Technos called Renegade.
Several innovations were made such as two-player co-op and of course being able to steal weapons from your foes after disarming them.
The game spawned several sequels, spinoffs and a movie (Gasp) and came out on every system imaginable such as NES, PlayChoice-10, Sega Master System, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, PC, Atari ST, Amiga, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Game Boy, Mega Drive/Genesis, Lynx, Mobile, Zeebo, Apple OS, Game Boy Advance and it’s out on iOS now too I believe.
To coincide with the 25th anniversary and intended as a reboot of the series, Double Dragon Neon was developed by WayForward Technologies and published by Majesco Entertainment. So if you’re not totally over the 80’s you’re in for a real treat. Because this is sort of like the Jaw breaker of videogames (Sorry). The dialogue and art style is heavily 80s-inspired and the soundtrack is made by Jake Kaufman (this guy is also doing the Retro City Rampage soundtrack) which is inspired by the original Double Dragon as well as 80’s pop music and arcade game soundtracks.

Did you try it out yet? Let us know!
The soundtrack to this game is quite good. It’s available for free… Training Wheels! :^)
Ah, neat! Get it here http://tinyurl.com/9ckbrfr or send Jake a few bucks for it!
Dare i say it, Better than the original!!! but still not as good as Target Renegade
.
Haven’t tried it yet. Should I?
Yes you should, its rather good old chap.
It’s not as twitchy as I would like, and the animations are a tad bit sluggish. But overall I think it’s solid. Best played with someone else, with online co-op coming down the pipe…
Gymnastics! :^P
