H1Z1 was just released on early access and it has been revealed that SOE are allowing microtransactions. For a small amount you will be able to purchase loot drops with the chance of getting a weapon. While I can understand that SOE wants to cash in on all the thousands of people now trying out the game I can’t help feeling it will ruin the realism. Games that let you buy better gear or allow you to craft items faster than everyone else will make the game largely unbalanced, specially for a free-to-play game, even for people who have skill in the game without paying.
It’s not clear if the PS4 version of the game will have these microtransactions yet but most likely it will.
I totally agree with you.
Games are usually set so you get more if you got the skills for it or by playing more and more of it.. But the fact that they let you pay real currency to unlock shit in-game and advance so much forward cuz you got the extra $$$ is beyond stupid and fucked up in so many levels.
Games are already being abused with their shitty DLC that are already included on the disc anyway.
People will simply stop playing the game for its intended reason and will simply just pay their way through the game.
Total disappointment. I will definitely not gonna be buying this game.
Its weird. The whole game is supposed to be just you, alone in the world, scavenging for loot you can craft etc, this makes it pretty silly imo.
There is also a separate mode in the game called Battle Royale, its basically a PVP DM arena, and you gain access to this by playing the real game and earning tickets for it. But you can also buy these tickets for real money.
I think its way smarter to just keep microtransactions to cosmetic stuff like clothes, paintjobs for cars etc.
