Gotham Knights announced with 4 characters, RPG elements and co-op in a post-Batman world

DC Fandome started today, and with it comes trailers, announcements and other bits and pieces of information related to the DC Universe. One of those announcements was the proper reveal of Gotham Knights from EA Montreal.

Set in a world where there is no Batman, you will have 4 playable characters to fight crime with. Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin will dive into Gotham City with their own tricks, perks and builds. You can play alone or enjoy a brawling session of drop-in co-op.

The game sports the same open world look and approach we’re used to from prior Batman games, but based on the information so far, and the 7 minute gameplay demo embedded below, changes to the formula includes several RPG elements new to the franchise, including a focus on leveling and what looks to be crafting or upgrade resources that you gather from fallen enemies. In the demo below you’re also introduced to Mr Freeze, a familiar face which I’m sure will be just one of many villains you’ll fight throughout the game.

Gotham Knights will be out in 2021 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
