The Persistence is a PS4/VR exclusive horror game where your friends can either help or mess you up

VR and horror games go together like VR horror games and wet pants. It’s a thing. The Persistence is such a thing if the trailer and plot is anything to go by.

Something goes pear-shaped on a ship called The Persistence which turns most of the crew into rambling monsters. The ship’s computer will wake you up and and set you loose for a quest to reach the engine room before something tears your face off. If said face is torn off, the ship will wake up another crew member and you’re at it again. Each run is procedurally generated. It is played in first person, and by the looks of it you will be peeking out from behind shelter and tazing a lot of people. Should be entertaining.

Do you remember the happy days of Twitch input where your streamers could affect your game? The Persistence will feature this type of interactive input through a companion app. It basically lets 4 people sit on their device and help you out by opening doors, revealing secrets or distracting enemies. They could also just fudge everything up for you since your timely death could mean a reward for the so-called helper. Don’t trust people on the internet.
