5.7 million PS4s sold during holiday 2015, 35.9 million worldwide as of January 3

Looks like a “few” behaved last year and got their Christmas wish fulfilled, because a whopping 5.7 million PS4 consoles sold through during the holiday season. In addition to this Sony saw a 60% increase in Plus subscriptions at the end of 2015 (compared to last year) according to a fresh press release full of happiness and Christmas wonder. In total a healthy 35.9 million PS4s have been sold through worldwide, which must be a nice install base to aim for if you’re releasing a game these days. There is of course a quote to go with the news, and it’s also quite happy – let’s join in:

We are absolutely delighted that so many customers have selected PS4 as the best place to play throughout this holiday season and that the PS4 community is growing more than ever. We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences, and look forward to bringing an unprecedented games portfolio from third party developers and publishers and SCE Worldwide Studios, including UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End, Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last Guardian, this coming year.Andrew House, President and Global CEO of SCEI
