Borderlands movie in the works

Movie adaptations of video games to me is a bit like freshly baked cookies. I know I’ll get burned but I can’t for the life of me stop touching them. And this happens a lot. Will that change with a Borderlands movie? I have no idea.

Lionsgate will helm the production of the movie with producers Avi and Ari Arad. You might not have heard those names before, but their work includes a lot of Marvel properties like Fantastic Four and Spider-Man. They are also involved in the production of the Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid movie. In other words, they are into action and that should be a nice fit for Borderlands.

The ‘Borderlands’ games don’t pull any punches, and we’ll make the movie with the same in-your-face attitude that has made the series a blockbuster mega-franchise.Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group
“Lionsgate has emerged as a major creative force in the global marketplace with an incredible portfolio of brands; our partners at Gearbox have pioneered and cultivated an iconic property; and Avi and Ari Arad are two of the most successful producers of action franchises. This alliance is ideally positioned to create a bold, provocative, no-holds-barred motion picture phenomenon that will delight ‘Borderlands” current legions of fans and captivate moviegoers around the world.Strauss Zelnick, CEO Take-Two Interactive

Do you think there’s hope for a successful adaptation and will Borderlands be the one?
