Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom is a passable action/RPG and the very first PS3 title in which you can play the whole campaign with a buddy.
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga was first in the line of many more Lego games to come. Enjoy the 36 story mode levels and try not to mind the wonky camera.
LittleBigPlanet, Media Molecule’s ambitious first Play – Create – Share title has a super imaginative and quirky but short main story mode. Despite the sluggish jump the cooperating and platforming easily makes up for it. Also the first game in which you can do a two handed air guitar solo with ease!
Treyarch refreshed a jaded franchise with Call of Duty: World at War, a gritty and immersive World War II shooter. What it lacks in pacing it makes up for in big set-piece battles and explosions.
Putting the controversy and complaints about being stuck in the past aside, Resident Evil 5 has super fun cooperative mechanics and game-play. Boss fights are innovative and loot/crafting system feels rewarding.
Borderlands might be my favorite co-op experience of all time. It has a great story with a twisted sense of humor, extraordinary loot, a gazillion guns and RPG-like character-building elements.
Transformers: War for Cybertron is a 3rd person action shooter set in the Transformers’ war-ravaged homeland. 3 players can team up and choose between different classes of transformers, either Decepticons or Autobots.
Join Lara and Totec in the isometric adventure called Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Fun action mixed with bite-sized environmental puzzles.
Resistance 3 is set in a beautifully crafted alternate 1950s America and your mission is to travel to New York (what is left of it) and fight off the Chimera. The sepia tinted world is just stunning at times and has lots of dynamic effects to marvel at. I have to say the Resistance-universe has the most imaginative and fun weapons out there. The Mutator! Do I need to say more?
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD‘s co-op mode from the PSP version works great on PS3 too. You’ll enjoy the brief missions and spend equal amount of time back at the base. Here you’ll spend your time updating your roster, building your Metal Gear and playing a addictive mini-game called ‘Outer Ops’ using recovered soldiers and vehicles from the field of battle.
Trying to describe Saints Row: The Third is rather tricky. Let me try. It’s weird, confusing, outrageous, stereotypical and yeah, it has dildos and zombies and talking cats too. I think you get the point.
The separate co-operative story in Portal 2 takes place after the single-player campaign. You take the roll as either Atlas or P-Body and what you’re about to experience is something truly special. The writing and voice acting is spectacular and alone worth your price of admittance.
Borderlands 2 is back with a full co-op campaign, jump in/jump out functionality, more loot, more variety, bigger and badder guns and enemies. There is also more focus on the story and the characters this time around.
Resident Evil 6 is trying to mix action and survival horror. Will it blend? This installment is the most ambitious, taking place over 3 different story arcs with playable characters like Leon S. Kennedy, Helena Harper, Chris Redfield, Piers Nivans, Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin.
In Dead Space 3 you will be able to play the full story mode as either Issac Clarke or John Carver in 2 player online, drop-in/drop-out co-op.
