Dead or Alive 5 Collector’s Edition will move players

Tecmo Koei is not being the slightest coy with their Collector’s Editon of Dead or Alive 5, slated for September 25. Included in the version are in-game swimsuit costumes for the female characters in the game. Team Ninja recently announced a robust physics engine including costume-specific breast physics, not shying away from reinforcing video game stereotypes. Developer and head of Team Ninja Yosuke Hayashirecently defended the decision saying:

“Dead or Alive 5 will rise beyond sex and violence and instead pursuing a direction that contains emotional experiences that can move players.”

Making matters worse, Amos Ip, General Manager of Tecmo Koei America had this to say about the Collector’s Edition:

”We wanted to create a truly compelling package of rewards to make our ‘DOA Day’ launch a day to celebrate for the fans that have made Dead or Alive synonymous with intense hand-to-hand fighting combat, whether it’s a stunning set of female fighter swimsuits for preorders or an entire luxurious package complete in an embossed metal case for the Collector’s Edition, players will get something that enriches their gaming experience.”

The Collector’s Edition will also include a steel case, a hardcover art book, a soundtrack CD and a full-color poster.
