Co-op, release date and trailer for Disney Epic Mickey 2

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Twothe sequel to the Wii exclusive Disney Epic Mickey, will splash paint pretty much everywhere on November 18. Great. This is why we can’t have nice things. Hrmph. In addition to only playing as Mickey in the previous game, Junction Point Studios has invited another classic character along for the ride. For the first time in video game history you will be able to play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, better known as Oswald the Rabbit or simply Oswald Rabbit. Walt Disney’s very first cartoon star, the anthropomorphic rabbit, appeared in films distributed by Universal Pictures in the 1920s and 1930s.

The duo returns to The Wasteland, a world of forgotten Disney characters and assorted theme park attractions. Mickey will still swing his magical paintbrush to draw and erase things, while Oswald… well, Oswald shoots electric bolts with his remote control. He can also use his elongated ears to fly. Quite handy!

Epic Mickey features 2 player drop-in, drop-out Co-op (no word on online Co-op yet), enhanced ingame physics and full Move support.

Video game designer extraordinaire and Creative Director of Epic Mickey 2, Warren Spector, had this to say about the Co-op experience:

One of my big problems with a lot of co-op games is that they devolve into ‘I inflict two to four points of damage with a graphic that looks like a fireball, and you inflict two to four points of damage with a graphic that looks like a spear.’ Who cares? We wanted to make sure Mickey and Oswald have completely different skill sets. That allows Oswald to interact with and control our animatronic enemies in ways Mickey can’t.

Hit the start button on your top right and get a whiff of the whimsy (and paint thinner) that is Epic Mickey 2.
