A LittleBigPlanet small enough for your pocket

In LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita, you will join Sackboy on a new and this time around mobile and tactile adventure. The game lets you explore 6 new themes on the fairground planet Carnivalia. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to foil the mysterious Puppeteer’s evil plans and bring fun and laughter back to Carnivalia.

The game will feature the same core mechanics as LittleBigPlanet 2 and you will of course be able to customize your Sackboy or Sackgirl and your surroundings with the tools that the Vita has to offer. Multi-touch controls makes rotating and resizing a breeze and snapping materials and stickers with the built-in camera gives you more freedom than before. You can also use the touch-screen display to directly draw objects and platforms in the game world. Creators can also manipulate multiple objects at once by using the new lasso select feature and quickly pan and zoom the camera through the rear touch screen. The built-in microphone can be used to record sound or voice over effects.

Another new nifty tool is the Memorizer. With it you are able to copy and create items and inventory that carry over from level to level and it also remembers if a level has been played before and can make the changes necessary based on that information. Very handy if you want to make a loot based game or even an RPG.

New in this addition of LitleBigPlanet are the touch (front & rear) and tilt controls and and with NEAR you can find and challenge other players in your neighborhood. The sharing is still a huge part of the franchise but there are also new multiplayer modes, like pass’n’play, local same screen multiplayer and online multiplayer for up to four players.

The upcoming fourth game in the series, is jointly developed by Double Eleven Limited and Tarsier Studios. The focus is trying to be a “platform for games” rather than just a platformer.

Finally please have a look at our new theme for LittleBigPlanet Vita by clicking the handy arrow to your left. You might want to think twice about it if you have a uncontrollable fear of tentacles and one armed robots.

Are you picking up the new LBP and what do you think about the touch controls?
