Introducing PSMania.net – A fanservice by fans

Is this thing on? Oh hey! Welcome to PSMania.net. First of all, internet has a lot of space. In fact, it has so much space we figured there would be room for one more PlayStation site out there.

The people behind Playstation Mania, or PSMania if you will, are the remnants of VGWatchdog. A site which seven or eight of you might happen to remember (be sure to give us a shout if you do, we love catching up). It had its glory days in 2008/2009 and was in a lot of ways a good example of things to come with trophies, leaderboards and gamercards. Ever since it went away in a brush of foul air, we have dabbled on and off on this little beauty, until we kicked it up a notch early in 2011 and got busy. Our tiny team has grown slightly, and while our initial ambitions were both grand and spectacular, we decided that we should rather focus on a few core things than try to be all over the place. We took a step back. We are not professional writers, but we’re professional fans, and as such we decided to give it a go anyway. That doesn’t mean we can’t do other things though, and so here we are, launching humbly with a few more features than we planned on, all in good spirit

PSMania aims to be a few things. We are, for as long as it’s possible, an ad free alternative. Your browser experience won’t suddenly be hampered by intrusive overlays and ads in the weirdest places. We won’t stop you between two pages to show you an ad. If it ever comes to that, we will try to be as subtle about it as possible. But for now we’re running this thing out of our own pockets and we’re content with that. This means that all the cool themes you find here, all the well known gaming characters, the nods to games and developers are there out of pure fandom and admiration. Not because we got paid to put them there, but because it’s cool to have them there. Our goal is to be a source of informative, humorous and interesting articles. We would love that. We would also like to keep you up to date on what games are out there, what’s coming and what we think of them. We do this by providing a database of games from both the PlayStation 3 and the Vita, complete with information about the games, trophies and more. Speaking of trophies; while we by no means are attempting to duke it out with the big guns out there, we have provided a neat little platform for the fans to provide tips and tricks for achieving trophies. We are not in relation to, sponsored by or in any way connected to the PlayStation brand other than being fans. That being said, we welcome everyone to take part of the site, to provide insights and clever comments, to edit gameinfo and keeping our database updated, and if you feel so inclined, to write for us. We wish nothing more than for all of this to go by in a polite manner. Constructive criticism and passionate opinions are okey, we encourage it, but let’s make it clear right now that this isn’t a place to be an asshat. We are fully aware that this is the internet, and that trolls comes with the package, but that doesn’t mean we have to put up with it.

PSMania is made up of a few key people, you can check us out on the About page. But we are what we are, and we can only do so much, so we are always looking for more talents out there. We can’t pay you, but we’ll give you a channel to voice your opinions, reviews and news features. Link us some previous work you’ve done to team at psmania.net and tell us a little about yourself and what you see yourself doing for us.

We are launching with almost 1500 games, over 10 000 screenshots, thousands of trophies, tons of trailers, a nifty PDF trophyguide and a hope that there’s room for us.

On behalf of the staff, we bid you welcome!
